Anime ? Put the kids to BED

Anime ; style of Japanese animation whose content range from PG to full 18+ so please don't look at them on Netflx per say and think they are children friendly ; classic case recently released Castlevania clearly not for kids with sexual content and graphic violence . Adults will say why are you watching cartoons this is a different type of media . They are generally intricate and echo life challenges and often strive to show the importance of persistency , teamwork , creating/maintaining values for future generations , love stories and prejudices . Once I saw the first anime movie not series ' Wicked City ' I was enthralled . ' Wicked City ' synopsis showed where two different entities feared result of a forbidden love relationship between both whose offspring created a new powerful being which united both entities' worlds but anarchist in both factions wanted no such unity . My favourites over the years range from deep seated stories to just full on action or combination of both . Series such as Samurai X ; showed forgiveness , trusting others and seeking personal restitution . Naruto , Naruto Shippuuden / Dragonball Z themes ;overcoming odds , never giving up , teamwork , keeping ones morals/honour to achieve a goal . Movies echo similar story lines however one of my all time favourites movies I simply like because of the action involved 'Ninja Scroll' Though it has a deep seated political/ class system as well as a complicated love story are evident

Though they maybe visually cartoon looking they are not cartoons . Patience is required with some to get to the premise of the story

My recommendations besides the ones mentioned previously series Sword Art Online , Bleach , Akame Ga Kill , Blade and Soul , Devil May Cry (based on the video game ) and Claymore

For movies Spirited Away , Sword of the Stranger , Ghost in the Shell , Princess Mononoke , Vampire Hunter D ; Bloodlust , Akira and Howl's Moving Castle .
